This is another project that I started during my degree, but have continued to develop since. It all started because I was interested in printing, but I did not have a press. So I decided to make the press and the printing plate all in one by making a huge, carved, rolling pin that I could ink and roll onto paper to produce an image. I made it from plaster of Paris and it was very heavy so it pressed into the paper as it rolled. I have since made many others of all different sizes. The rollers themselves have a sculptural quality, and have become objects of interest rather than just tools of the trade.
